Problem

Music Choice was a cable only product and needed to enter the web space to compete against growing threats like Spotify.

As the sole designer I had limited resources and I needed to bring many different styles shows and color and simplify them into a coherent style and brand. I had to mostly rely on competitive research and stakeholder meetings. The new logo was done by an outside agency.

Process

How to Design with Limited Resources

The first step taken was to create a mood board to help communicate the feeling of the site to stakeholders. Next to map out the site architecture so we knew the scope of the work. Following that was research on our competitors and companies that had also just redesigned their streaming sites to see what they did right.

 

Music Choice had a lot of interactive shows that had to work with Live TV so we needed to map out all the possible interactions

 

After the interactions were worked out, we then started on low fidelity wireframes to present to the programmers and the stakeholders.

 

Solution

After getting buy off from the from the stakeholders, we then proceeded to develop the high fidelity wireframes. Since this was before programs like Sketch or Figma existed, I also had to prepare a style guide and interaction guide for the programmers.
